Phitsanulok City is one of the larger provincial capitals of northern Thailand, with a population of 80,000 or more. The city is bisected by the languorous Nan River.

There are two bridges spanning this River in Phitsanulok. The larger, central, and busier bridge is named in honour of the Thai King Naresuan. This bridge, the smaller and less used, is named in honour of Naresuan's younger brother, who reigned after him, King Ekatotsarot (reign: 1605-1610).

The date stone, of which there are two, are located in the bridge centre, one on either side of the bridge. The stones are engraved the date and name of the bridge.

The year given is 2543 in the Buddhist era, which translates to the year 2000 of the Common Era. The curvaceous Thai script is used. The lower right four characters seen in the default image are the date digits. There is no specific parking in the near vicinity of the bridge, other than normal street parking.
