The church was opened in 1895, 6 years after the congregation had formed. The church, vestry and lecture hall cost £2,400 when built of which subscriptions raised £1,200. The church was designed in a French Gothic style by EH Dawson, and built by James Garden of Dalton-in-Furness. The quoins came from Haworth, the roof slates sourced locally.
