The Picton Armoury was built in 1913 as a home for the 16th Prince Edward Regiment, the local militia unit that traced its origins back to 1863.
During WWI and WWII the Armoury served as a recruiting depot and staging area for what would be known as the 2nd Battalion, Hastings And Prince Edward Regiment (2 HPER).
Following the Militia Reorganization of 1965, the militia unit was reduced to nil strength, with personnel and assests moved to the regimental HQ in Belleville, and the Armoury declared surplus.
Since then, a wide assortmentment of civilian tenants have occupied the facility, most recently a local Dramatic Arts group.
