Beim Eingang des Löwenhauses ist diese Statue eines liegenden Löwen zu finden.
"Schon im 15. Jahrhundert entstand am heutigen Rennweg das sogenannte landfürstliche Tierhaus inklusive eines Löwenzwingers, den neben anderen zahmen und wilden Tieren, bald eine Löwin bewohnte, woher auch unser Name stammt. Am 17. April 1636 wurde das Tierhaus sprich Löwenhaus durch eine ungeheure Feuersbrunst in wenigen Stunden vernichtet. Beinahe 80 Jahre später, im Jahre 1714 ließ Karl Philipp von der Pfalz-Neuburg an der Stelle des einstigen Tierhauses das heutige Löwenhaus mit der dazugehörigen Brauerei “Löwenbräu” erbauen." - Quelle: (
