On July 27, 2007, two news helicopters collided over Steele Indian School Park in Phoenix, Arizona. Four people were killed: KTVK pilot Scott Bowerbank and photographer Jim Cox; and pilot Craig Smith and photographer Rick Krolak of KNXV. No one on the ground was injured. The news helicopters were following a police chase of Christopher Jermaine Jones on the ground. Jones was eventually charged with 35 crimes related to the police chase. He was not held responsible for the helicopter crash.
