The Bridge Inn is in Bridge Street next to the public park at Riverside Gardens. Stourport-on-Severn developed as a town during the period of canal building, the Staffordshire and Worcester canal which starts here opend in 1772 - this pub appears contemporary with that period.
The Bridge depicted on it's sign is allegorical and bears no resemblance to the adjacent bridge across the River Severn, which is located about 100 yards from the inn. Until fairly recently it was the only bridge for about 5 miles either way along the Severn.
