The present church was built in 1875 by JB and W Atkinson. The tower is earlier and dates to the 16th century.

The church is constructed from coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and a stone slate roof. The building consists of a three storey West tower, a nave, North aisle, South porch, North vestry and a chancel. The tower is topped with battlements and corner pinnacles.
