This benchmark was one of many benchmarks found this day.

The benchmark was found by looking on a topography map and and seeing it listed as BM 4196. It is not located in the NGS database.

Unfortunately, this benchmark was found in poor condition due to someone trying to pry it off the boulder it is imbedded in. Part of the disk is missing. Fortunately, all the necessary stamping for identification was still visible on the face. It's an old benchmark from 1908. I love finding these older benchmarks and have found many from the same year (1908) in the past few months all over Southern Oregon.

Directions to get to benchmark:
If you're driving south on Huntington Drive, you can take a left onto Velvet Court. I parked at the turnoff to the court next to the road and walked to a small outcrop of boulders about 30 feet east of the road. The benchmark is imbedded in one of the boulders.
