This episode sees winter in the Dales with significant snow. James tries to do his rounds on skis, but not with any success. Tristan has left his job with the Ministry of Agriculture, hoping to join the practice. Siegfried gets wind of Tristan’s plans and decides to wind Tristan up. Tristan’s love life isn’t going well either. He has taken a shine to Verity Barraclough, but her father doesn’t like Tristan and insists Verity’s schoolgirl sister accompanies Verity any time she is with Tristan. Calum is dispatched to Ireland for tuberculin testing and Helen is bedridden with a bad back.
The Barraclough family home is actually the Manor House in Middleham. The clips show Tristan arriving at the house to try to take Verity out. He gets very short shrift from Mr Barraclough.
