The Last Furlong combines Siegfried’s attempt to become the official vet at the local racecourse with James and Helen’s wedding.
Siegfried knows there is a vacancy for the post of official vet at the Broughton racecourse. He is invited by the committee to the races. Unfortunately, he meets an old friend Stewie Brannon at the races and after several drinks with Stewie he gets somewhat inebriated. The committee are not impressed.
Staffing at the practice is under strain. The Ministry of Agriculture want tuberculin testing to be carried out on the same week that James will be on honeymoon. James, being a little short of cash for the honeymoon agrees to spend his honeymoon week tuberculin testing.
The scenes for James’s and Helen’s wedding were shot at Holy Trinity Church at Wensley. The church is at present a redundant church.
