This is a bench seat, and back rest, based on a sculpted female lying prone. There are a series of these seats and benches in the Cardiff Bay area, at Britannia Quay, Roath Dock, and Waterfront park, they have come to be known as Beastie Benches, and memorials to Dylan Thomas. They all carry an inscription from one of Dylans poems. Inscribed on the rear of this seat are the words: "Venus lies star struck in Her wounds".
The bench is located at the end of the Roath dock. Whilst sitting on this seat you will have a good view of the lightship Helwick, 'Pit to Port' sculpture and Britannia Quay, perhaps a great place to sit and read Dylan Thomas's poem ‘Ballad of the long legged bait’
