This U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey benchmark (designated D 387) is located near Canada Hill Road, near the intersection where the Baltimore and Ohio Railway cross. The mark is located south of this crossing - approximately 6 feet west of a concrete milepost in a concrete monument that is set flush with the ground. Previous surveyors have tied orange ribbon to the top of the milepost to aid in identification. There is a witness post a few feet from the mark, however it has fallen over and is laying on the ground in the undergrowth.

There is also white plastic that has been placed on the ground over the mark - possibly to kill the undergrowth? Regardless the mark is located under the tarp and was visible through a hole in the plastic. It was recovered in good condition.

At this time, there are orange ribbon tide to some scrub near the mark to help in identifying the general location. Utilizing the proximity to the milepost will help in getting to the right area to recover this mark.

The mark was stamped with the date: 1967.
