This old locomotive was used to transport coal from the depths of the coal mines that dotted the Pennsylvania landscape. It was built much smaller and low to the ground to facilitate its travels through the various small access tunnels into the mines.
These Lokies replaced the mule teams that used to haul the coal buckets to the surface
This particular example has graced the grounds of the welcome centre since its opening in the '80s. Not much more is known about it.
