A state school paid for by public funding opened in 1839, but the first brick laid in 1838. It was closed around 1930 and the school was moved onto the New Road, imaginatively called 'the new road' and this building is now split into two separate homes, number 1 and number 2, Yr Hen Ysgol, of 'the old school'.
