Chiang Mai is one of the major cities of northern Thailand, replete with Buddhist temples, tourist attractions, and lots of tourists. One of the wats is Wat Chiang Mun. Inside from the main entrance is the temple ordination hall, and just to the north of the hall entrance is this bell.

The bell is a substantial piece of metal, ~50cm tall, and suspended from a white arch-like structure. This type of bell would be used to coordinate the activities of the monks in the good old days. It is a popular photographic subject with visitors. Of course, visitors are welcome to ring the bell for good luck, though a small donation, say 20 baht is the done thing to do.
