An old milestone, displaying 1 (mile from Deal) and 73 (miles from London), which is sited at the corner of London Road and Milestone Road in Deal, Kent.  Until the introduction of the Turnpike Trusts in the 18th century, no milestones had been erected since Roman times, so quite probably this milestone was placed when what is now London Road, was constructed around 1820.
