The Crutched Friar is located in Tower Hill, not too far from the Tower Hill Tube station. They serve a nice selection of cask ales and a wide variety of tasty English dishes. They also have a big screen TV where you can watch major sporting events. They can also provide catering for private parties with up to 400 guests.

A plaque just inside the entrance to the pub reads:

THE
CRUTCHED
FRIAR

The Crutched Friar gets its name
from an order of mendicant friars,
the "Fratres Cruciferi" who first arrived in
England in 1244 in the Diocese of Rochester.
They established nine houses in England,
the first at Colchester founded in 1245,
and settled in London at Tower Hill in 1249
where they gave their name
to the locality.
