The Deal Beach Parlour is a classic 1960's style
ice cream parlour in Beach Street, opposite Deal Pier. Back in the
late 50's and 60's , they even made their own ice cream on site, sadly
no longer.
Myself and Mrs Meer's have fond memories of our childhood, when the
Deal Beach Parlour Ice Cream van used to visit the area of our
childhood homes in the Medway towns, some 50 miles from Deal!. It was
always pandemonium, as hordes of us kids flocked to the van, convinced
that 'by now he must have run out'. Having moved into this area over
30 years ago, we have no such worries nowadays :)
In the summer months (remember them), the queue at the 'ice cream
window' serving point can be very long, and it is quite usual to see
visiting coaches pull up into the coach bay opposite and see most of
it's occupants head straight to the ice cream window . In the winter
months the cafe is well placed for a "Full English" breakfast, lunch,
or a large cup of tea to warm you through.
Serving most brands/variety of ice creams and ice lollies, the all
time favourite here at the Deal Beach Parlour has to be the pink and
white soft ice cream cone with a chocolate flake :)
