Located in Alexander Mackenzie Park this plaque describes the French speaking families and the Scottish settlers who first founded Sarnia from 1807-1834. Called "The Rapids" originally before being renamed Port Sarnia in 1836 and then just Sarnia after 1856 when it became incorporated as a town. Sarnia became a city in 1914 and is now one of Canada biggest petro-centres.
