Not only is this a triathlon, but is has become a major community event, drawing approximately 4,000 local volunteers to make the event successful.

For the past nine years, the communities of Coeur d’Alene, Hayden, Dalton Gardens and Hayden Lake have opened their arms and welcomed the 2,500 international athletes to the North Idaho. This the 10th annual local event is expected to be no different.

The day prior to the event there is a free community pancake breakfast in city park. The day following the event there is a free community dinner held in a large circus tent, as a thank you to the community members who helped to make the event possible.

There is no admission price to come down town Coeur d'Alene during the pre-event, event and post-event activities. There is; however, an admission fee if you are an athlete that actually wants to participate in the Ironman itself.

With all of the athletes, family & friends of the athletes, volunteers and spectators, Ironman draws more people to down town Coeur d'Alene than any other event. Ironman may seem like just a race, but it is much more to the community of Coeur d'Alene and Kootenai County.

2012 marks the 10th Annual Ironman Coeur d'Alene, held June 24, 2012.
