Chiang Mai is the premier city of northern Thailand, replete with many fascinating tourist attractions, and thus, many tourists. One of the many ancient wats in the city is Wat Phantau, and one of the attractions of this Wat, certainly for waymarkers, are the two lions guarding the main entrance.

These are two Singha lions, Indian style, carved from stone, wearing an elaborate harness, sitting atop the outer wall of the Wat. Each is maybe 1m tall, identical in appearance, but each faces out from the gateway. Anyone with ill intent in their heart will be pounced upon when they attempt to enter the temple. So—take care.
