"Between Morning and Midnight" is the title of this Maryland Fire Rescue Services Memorial. It is made up of five sculptures. The two fire rescue personnel on the upper stairway represent those who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. The other three sculptures represent those left behind. The kneeling woman represents a grieving mother shocked by her loss. A youthful child consoles the mother and represents those who will grow up to fill the need to support and serve through the Fire Rescue services. The elderly man represents the wisdom that comes with age about the cycle of Life and the inevitablity of death. The plaque near the sculptures states, "All figures are reaching out to touch, console, and say goodbye and share their lost love."
There is space between these sculptures to stand next to them and share their burden and express your own sense of loss of your loved ones.
