Tim Horton's Sign
While helping add to the bottom line at the same time as the waist line, the Tim Horton's company and family of coffee and doughnut stores is one of the best known Canadian companies. In recent years Tim Horton's has infiltrated the United States, predominately in the North-East.
The first Tim Hortons store was opened in 1964 on 64 Ottawa Street North, near Dunsmure Rd., in Hamilton, Ontario. It has since grown into Canada's largest national chain of coffee and doughnut shops, with over 1,500 stores across Canada. Tim Donut Ltd., the corporate headquarters of the chain, is located in Oakville, Ontario and in 1997, Tim Hortons was employing 25,000 people across the country.
The FIRST Store
The restaurant was opened by Tim Horton and Ron Joyce who was a police constable (the joke is too easy) and has expanded in size and items over the last 40 or so years.
Mounted on the exterior wall of this FIRST store is a plaque dedicated to STORE #1.

Tim Horton's also is a concerned corporate citizen that gives back to the community through various sponsorships as well as owning summer camps that they operate free of charge to less fortunate familes. "Camp Day" is run with all sales generated at all locations being used to fund these programs.
Classic signage
From a small location that served coffee and doughnuts, grew a Canadian success story. The official Website of Tim Horton's should be referred to for more current corporate information. The link attached below is more related to the history of Tim Horton's (link is broken - the host site states 'technical difficulties').
Hope you enjoy the Waymark visit
