The St John's Cemetery is on land granted to the church in 1754 by the Honorable Theodore Atkinson however it is evident that burials took place earlier on the cemetery as there are gravestone predating this. The cemetery has about 100 marked graves and 10 underground vault seen at the street level of the cemetery. Many early prominent people are buried in these vaults including the Royal Governor Benning Wentworth (1741-1766) and the Rev. Arthur Browne, first Rector of Queen's Chapel (1736-1773).

The current St. John's Church was built in 1807 replacing the earlier Queen's Chapel located on the same site which burned in the prior year. The church was the first brick church to be built in New Hampshire. The church and cemetery are well maintained by the active parish.
