This monument is dedicated to Peeple's Georgia Battery, in recognition of their service during the
Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. It marks their location at 4 pm on Saturday, Sept. 19, 1863. The battery was commanded by Captain Tyler M. Peeples and had 2 Napoleons and 2 24 PDR. Howitzers.

Short Physical Description
A rock-faced, peaked-top granite slab, 4'6" wide x 6' high x 1'8" thick, that carries an inscription, with crossed cannons carved in relief above it. Marks unit's position on September 19, 1863, at 4:00 p.m.
