"In 1913 David Alfred Thomas (Viscount Rhondda), the coal magnate, offered to defray the entire cost of placing ten statues of eminent Welshmen in the then new City Hall at Cardiff, a fine building which had been completed in 1905" :- (visit link)

The lifesize Owain Glyndwr, sculpted by Alfred Turner, from Serravezza marble, stands approx 183cm tall, the front panel bears the Inscription :- OWEN GLYNDWR / OWEN GLENDOWER / 1359 - 1415 / ALFRED TURNER R.B.S. / SCULPTOR

Owain Glyn Dwr (anglicised as Owen Glendower) led a Welsh revolt against the English crown between 1400 and 1409 and was the last to claim the title of independent prince of Wales.

"In 1404 he captured the key castles of Criccieth, Harlech and Aberystwyth and held the first Welsh Parliament in Machynlleth, where he was also crowned Prince of Wales. He held two other Parliaments in Harlech and one in Dolgellau over the next two years, held an important conference in Dolgellau and signed a treaty with France": (visit link)

"Owain Glyn Dwr was born around the 1350s into an Anglo-Welsh gentry family. His estates provided him with a modest power base in north-east Wales. Glyn Dwr was educated in England, joining the English army and taking part in an invasion of Scotland. He then retired to his estates in Wales. In 1399, against the backdrop of Richard II's overthrow by Henry Bolingbroke in England, Glyn Dwr's long-running land dispute with his neighbour, Reginald de Grey, escalated into rebellion. Glyn Dwr was crowned prince of Wales in September 1400": (visit link)

(visit link) "Owain was one of the greatest patriots Wales has ever known.
His name has become a symbol of pride and freedom.
He sacrificed everything for a dream of Wales as a nation, governing itself with its own institutions and universities."

600 years later Owain Glyndwrs dream came true when the Welsh Parliment was created by the Government of Wales Act 1998, which followed a referendum of the people of Wales in 1997. The National Assembly for Wales, is located in Cardiff, Capitol of Wales.
