This symbolic sculpture, located in the parking lot of the Oklahoma Firefighters Museum, was displayed as part of the celebration of Oklahoma's 100 years of statehood. The sculpture consists of nine 78-inch long swirling aluminum ribbons of yellow, blue, green, purple and red. This is a kinetic sculpture and the bands wave in the wind to simulate a flame. A metal plate mounted on the support pole indicates that the "flame" symbolizes the City of Tulsa's rich heritage of Native American culture, oil production, their move into the aerospace industry, and their love of the arts. The plaque reads:

The Oklahoma Centennial Spirit Pole symbolizes Tulsa's colorful Native American heritage, the oil gushers that built our City, our reach for the skies through aerospace and our passion for the arts - all of which inspire the Tulsa Spirit of achievement and optimism.
