Historic Park Street Church in Boston. Built in 1809 on the site of a granary, Park Street Church has been the location of many events of historic significance. The first antislavery speech by William Lloyd Garrison, the founding of the Boston chapter of the NAACP, the founding of the Animal Resuce League, the storage of gunpowder in the basement during the War of 1812, as well as the church's age, contribute to its inclusion on Boston's Freedom Trail. More recently, the church's significance is due to it being one of the largest Evangelical congregations in New England, with an average Sunday attendance of about 2,000 worshipers over four services.
