Wat Jedyod is one of Chiang Rai’s newest temples, and is located near the city centre. The name means ‘seven peaks‘ and alludes to the seven chedi’s on the roof of the square structure behind the main temple (ordination hall). Construction commenced in 1844, but was not completed until 1944. The colours used in the temple are red and silver, a rare combination in Thai Wats.
The grounds of the temple centre around the ordination hall. The hall looks recently refurbished. The grounds of the temple are replete with Buddhist images and artefacts. The temple is well maintained.
