Lithuanian National Drama Theatre (Lithuanian: Lietuvos nacionalinis dramos teatras), located on Gediminas Avenue in Vilnius, is one of the biggest theatres in Lithuania. Since its establishment in 1940, it has staged over 200 performances. The theatre's current repertoire mixes classical and modern theatre (Sophocles, William Shakespeare, Federico García Lorca, Bernard-Marie Koltès, Samuel Beckett, Ronald Harwood, B. Strauss, Fyodor Dostoyevsky) with material by contemporary Lithuanian playwrights (Sigitas Parulskis, Herkus Kuncius and others).
The theatre was granted the right its current name in 1998, having previously been known as the "Academical" theatre. In 2001 the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre became a member of the European Theatre Convention.
