A circular marker stands in front of a flagpole in a small landscaped garden at the Zion United Methodist Church on Courthouse Rd. in Spotsylvania, Virginia. A plaque on top of the marker is inscribed IN MEMORY OF CHARLES R. BELL.

According to an obituary published in the Free-Lance Star, Charles Richard Bell died in 2004 at the age of 54. He was a member and trustee at Zion Methodist Church and served 20 years in the army. He is buried in the church cemetery

The Zion UMC website says Charlie wrote an article about the history of the church for the Fall 2004 issue of Journal of American Military Past, a print publication.
