The Brule River is a marvel as it is the only river to flow North into Lake Superior. It begins its flow far south of here, less than half a mile from where the St. Croix River begins its flow. The Brule flows North, the St. Croix flow South. The Brule has two distinct areas it flows through. In the southern half it flows through swampy bogs and is fed by small ponds. Its Northern half flows past pine and aspen forests as it makes its rapid decent into the lake. The Brule has wonderful canoeing and world class trout fishing. This is its mouth. From the parking area just follow the adjacent trail NW and the mouth should be quite obvious.
