Rychnov u Jablonce nad Nisou is located in a valley of the Mohelka River at the foot of Jizerské hory. As indicated by the name, it lies close to Jablonec nad Nisou. It extends on the bottom of a prehistoric maar. The original settlement was most probably founded in the 13th century. At the end of the 19th century the manufacture of glass costume jewellery started to develop rapidly in the region. Exhibition export buildings were built in Rychnov. Even nowadays you will find buildings ranking among treasures of building art, dating back to the beginning of the 20th century.

Thanks to its location, Rychnov u Jablonce is a good starting point for hiking trails and cycling tracks leading to Jizerské hory and Ceský ráj.

The railway viaduct in the village of Rychnov Jablonec was built in 1856-1859 as part of the railway line Pardubice - Liberec.
