Aparima Hut is actually two 6 bunk huts located in the upper section of the Aparima watershed before it leaves the Takitimu Mountains. The hut/s is sited in the true left of the river on a plateau close to the junction of the Aparima and Waterloo Rivers. The main Aparima Hut is a 6 bunk hut with pot belly stove and attached water tank. The 2nd hut is an older but functional 6 bunk cullers hut with open fire. Access is via the Dunrobin Road through Pleasant Valley & Dunrobin Stations. The start of the walking track is located at S45 44.726 E168 01.086 and is sign posted clearly. Walking from here to the hut will take approx 2 hrs on a fairly flat track following up the true right of the Aparima River until a swing bridge is crossed about 5 mins walk from the hut. See DOC link for the hut: http://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-stay/backcountry-huts-by-region/southland/southland/aparima-hut/
