Originally this was a Texas and New Orleans Railroad caboose. On November 1, 1961 the T&NO, a subsidiary of Southern Pacific Railroad, merged into the SP and the T&NO ceased to exist. The caboose re-numbered to an SP number at that time and then at some point the MoPac Lines acquired it. (special thanks to TheBeanTeam for additional information about this caboose)
