Besonderheit: Kapelle am Jakobsweg durch Leutasch
Die Klamm- oder Höllkapelle im Grenzgebiet zwischen Leutasch und Mittenwald wurde schon 1697 erstmalig erwähnt.
Die Entstehung der Kapelle fällt vermutlich in das Ende des 16. Jahrhunderts, während ihr heutiges Äußeres aus den Achziger Jahren des 19. Jh. datiert.
Damals entkleidete sie nämlich ein Sturmwind bis auf die nackte Mauer und sorgte so für eine gründliche Renovierung vor.
Heute liegt die Kapelle längst nicht mehr so beschaulich wie noch bis 1912, als hier nur ein kleiner Fußweg Bayern und Tirol verband.
Dafür kann man nun aber gerade an dieser Stelle zur beeindruckenden Leutascher Geisterklamm hinabwandern.
Dass Reisende aber schon zur Zeit, als die Kapelle erbaut wurde, diese grenzüberschreitende Route wählten, lässt das Altarbild, das den Hl. Jakobus in Öl zeigt, vermuten - war der Hl. Jakob doch auch der Schutzheilige der Reisenden und Pilger.
Da die kleine Kapelle offen ist, sind die zwei kleinen Statuen, die die "zwoa Jakoberlen" genannt wurden, schon lange verschwunden.
Neu ist auf der Vorderseite eine Jakobsmuschel und die Innschrift "Jacob beschütze uns auf diesem Weg".
Im Innenraum findet sich weiters eine Christusdarstellung an der Geiselsäule, die der Darstellung des Herrn im Elend in der bekannten Wieskirche nachempfunden ist." - Quelle: (
