A swindle involving a necklace is the theme for this episode. The necklace belongs to Lord Gillingham and is to be used in a fashion parade. The necklace is stolen and substituted by a fake during a changeover at the parade, right under the noses of the police and the Saint. The Saint takes an interest, not only because of the reward, but also because a jeweller friend of his has been murdered.
The Saint eventually deduces that the model who was wearing the necklace has a twin and that the twin went out with the fake necklace instead of the real model during the changeover. Things become more complicated when the Saint realises that Lord Gillingham’s secretary is in on the act and it was she that killed the jeweller.
