Misericordia Health Centre operates a 24-hour walk-in Urgent Care Centre which sees about 41,000 people per year.

The history of Misericordia Health Centre dates back to 1898 when 4 Misericordia Sisters from Montreal came to Winnipeg to care for abandoned children and young women with their newborn babies. Two years later, on this site, the Winnipeg Maternity Hospital was established on two and a half acres. It was renamed Misericordia General Hospital in 1917 and then Misericordia Health Centre in 1998.
Over the years, there has been many additions to the facility and buildings from 1906, 1926, 1949, 1957, 1971, and 1990 are still in use. (visit link) A major redevelopment plan is underway with Phase1 scheduled to be completed in 2013.
