Jonathan D. Kemp was a Captain in the North Carolina Militia. According to the head stone laid by his son, he fought at Bunker's Hill. That's all the information I could find.

Erected to the memory of Jonathan Kemp died Dec. 9th, 1814 aged 72 years.
His youth was passed in the service of his country. He fought at Bunker's Hill and through the Revolutionary War (illegible line) The residue of his life was spent in the cultivation of his native soil, an honest man; He lived, loved and respected and died, sincerely and regretted
This simple tribute to his memory is erected by his son, Hillery Kemp.
