A55 Pen y Clip Pedestrian/Cycle Bridges Commemorative Plaque, Llanfairfechan, Conwy, Wales - UK Historical Markers on Waymarking.com

Set into a small stone platform, this plaque which commemorates the completion of the Pen y Clip pedestian/cycle bridges is located on the Llanfairfechan side of the Pen y Clip tunnel.

The bridges were a Welsh government scheme designed to increase the safety of pedestrians and cyclists, who in the past had to cross the busy A55 in Penmeanmawr. The new bridges take the pedestrian or cyclist over the A55, which gives amazing views of the traffic below and is much safer.

The bridges in Llanfairfechan and Penmaenmawr are connected via a previously hidden and unused section of Thomas Telford's A55 road.

The plaque is bi-lingual, and the text reads:
