- Quelle: (visit link)

"The first religious building in the "Mühlegg" was the Chapel of the Cross, also called "Kalvare" and was built by the husband and wife Rietzer Mathias and Christina Stoeckl Gabl 1661st Peter Graßmayr, Hofkammerbote of the Prince and also born in Innsbruck Rietzer, built in 1676 beneath a small church called Chapel of the Cross, which was accepted by the locals as a place of Christian contemplation happy. 25 »Werchschuech" long and 18 "Werchschuech" was wide of the church, on 8 November 1678 the Bishop of Brixen Mayrhofen in the presence of many believers Paulinus consecrated.

Soon, however, this first church was too small, so that six years later, in 1684, enlarged the church and was transferred after four years of construction, the Prince Bishop Franz Josef Khuen, the Church of the population.

In 1756 it was the builder Johann Umhauser, the redesigned and expanded the church to the now size.

Probably the saddest event in the history of the shrine was the fire of 15 August 1947, at that time were the wooden structures of the tower and the roof structure was completely destroyed. This fire was a catastrophe in Rietz and horror provoked disbelief among the population." - Source (visit link)
