This staff gauge is off the lower parking lot for the Gilbert Stuart Bithplace and Museum, and downstream of the bridge over the brook.

In North Kingstown, downstream of the Gilbert Stuart Road Bridge over Gilbert Stuart Brook, is a staff gauge on the south shore of the brook.
To get to the staff, from Route 138, take Boston Neck Road south to Snuff Mill Road, take a right onto this road and follow it to a sharp right curve, then take then next road, Gilbert Stuart Road, left and follow that road to the Gilbert Stuart Birthplace and Museum on the right and the parking lots on the left. Park in the 2nd lot on the left, then walk west to a pathway, then a walk a short distance to the gauge on the nearside bank of the brook.
The gauge is a standard gauge that is mounted to a wooden board that is in turn mounted to a tree. The current level is 1.30 (ft). It goes to up to 3.20 ft.
It was a bit hard to identify what this stretch of waterway is called. In the end, I went with the Narrow/Pettaquamscutt River Preservation Association map that identified this stretch as the Gilbert Stuart Brook that flows into a pond that becomes the Narrow/Pettaquanscutt River. As far as I could determine, there is no USGS monitored station at this site.
There are a couple other signs at the site, related to restoration of anadromous fish. I'm not sure if the gauge is related to this project.
