For over 35 years this house was the home of Sir Étienne-Paschal Taché, doctor, Prime Minister of the United Canadas and a Father of Confederation. Constructed in the 1820s, it features the rectangular plan and medium-pitched roof typical of traditional Quebec architecture. The interior wood detailing is of classical inspiration. After 1850, the house was enlarged and later embellished by two square towers, in keeping with the eclectic tastes of the period.
