Little information is available about this couple. A boulder in the Aids Memorial Grove in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park is engraved:
"MOONWALK WAY
DEDICATED TO
DOUGLAS WATSON AND LARRY SILVA
WHO MET THE DAY HUMANS
WALKED ON THE MOON"
The Wikipedia article about the Grove (
visit link) simply indicates that in 1999
"Moonwalk Way (funded by the Moonwalk Foundation honoring Vivien Schneider and Silva Watson) approved to control erosion."
This website (
visit link) informs us:
"Doug and Larry met in July 1969, on the day humans first walked on the moon. Their relationship continued for 25 years, until Larry died in 1994.
Following Larry’s death, Doug spent the next year, the last of his life, designing a non-profit entity that would fulfill their vision of helping other people achieve the quality of life they enjoyed. This dream became the Silva Watson Moonwalk Fund, which was named to commemorate the day they met. Since 1997, the Silva Watson Moonwalk Fund has contributed millions of dollars to charitable organizations all over California."
