The NVT was formed to care for Smardale Gill viaduct when maintenance was withdrawn. NVT bought their first structure. With Smardale Gill Nature Reserve (visit link) this forms an enjoyable walk from Smardale Hall. A circular trail has been created by going down to Smardale Bridge and returning along an old miners track on the east side of the stream. Download walk leaflet from NVT.org.uk (visit link)
