현충탑

The bronze figures of a a man (L) and woman (R) are about 8-10 feet tall. The each grip the staff of a furled Korean flag. The monument is mounted on the side of a hill over looking the harbor of Mokpo.

There is a museum underneath the base of the monument accessible from the rear, but there are no posted ours and the doors were locked at the time of this visit. Also in this park are some hiking trails and a small water feature at the entrance. The memorial was dedicated on January 19, 2007.

There are trails going up the mountains to the west, giving fantastic panoramic views of the seawall to the south and this southeastern section of the city, thought the harbor area is not visible, further to the southwest.
