The construction of the third church in Spitzkunnersdorf was initiated by landlord Otto Ludwig von Kanitz in 1712. He died in February 1724, before the new church was consecrated on October 17th, 1724. Final works were done in 1725.
The church was repaired several times during 18th, 19th and 20th century, in 1966 the inner paintings were restored, in 1966 complete exterior renovation was done, in 2006 the roof was renovated and the last works in 2010-2012 were focused on interior: the organ, church equipment and windows.
