The Stockbury village sign is on the green opposite the village pub and village hall. A plaque on the sign post tells us, amongst other things, that the village sign depicts the Motte & Bailey Castle of Stockbury 1086 (adjacent to church) with one oxen pulling a plough (from Domesday record) underneath which is the Saxon village name STOCHINGEBERGE 1086. Beneath is 2000 /STOCKBURY / KENT and the Kent Invicta shield.
