Kino Scala zahájilo svuj provoz 28. prosince 1929 pod názvem Bio Dopz (zkratka Družstva obchodních a prumyslových zamestnancu) a puvodne melo 800 sedadel. Roku 1931 se pocet sedadel navýšil na 1012 a název byl zmenen na Bio Scala. Po skoncení okupace získalo kino další nový název – Moskva. Po dvojí adaptaci s moderním vybavením byl pocet sedadel snížen na 478. V 80. letech bylo kino Moskva prémiovým kinem a radilo se mezi nejmodernejší v Brne. Kino se dockalo ozvucení ve formátu Dolby Stereo SR. Po Sametové revoluci bylo prejmenováno na Kino Scala. Provoz kina zacal být po otevrení multikin ztrátový a tak kino 22. prosince 2011 dopoledním promítáním pro školy ukoncilo provoz coby mestské kino a hledá se nový provozovatel. Možností je i pronajmutí kina Masarykove univerzite.

Cinema Scala operates from 28th December 1929 under the name Bio Dopz (abbreviation: Biograph of Cooperatives of commercial and industrial workers) and originally had 800 seats. In 1931, the number of seats increased to 1012 and the name was changed to Bio Scala. After the occupation cinema got another new name - Moscow. After two adaptation with modern facilities, the number of seats reduced to 478. In the 80 years, the Moscow cinema theater was the most modern movie theatre in Brno. After the Velvet Revolution in 1989 was renamed back to the Scala Cinema. After the new multi-cinemas in city centre was opened, began the operation of theater to be loss, at 22nd December 2011 was closed and Brno (owner of cinema) looking at this time for a new operator. Option is to rent this movie theatre to Masaryk University.
