Long Description:
This sign is part of a 4-sided kiosk. The history portion reads:
"New Land, New Hope
The History of the Golden Gate
Spain hoped for a safe harbor
in Northern California to
expand her global empire. Mexico
dreamed of robust international
trade. The United States envisioned
a country that stretched from sea to
sea. While these nations struggled
to control the land, thousands of
immigrants from all over the world
arrived at the Golden Gate searching
for a better chance in life. Arriving
on foot, on horseback, on ship and
in covered wagons, these hopeful
adventurers, gambling on the new
land, set the course of history for
early California."
